Privacy Policy

Your family's information is treated with care, clarity, and respect.

Information we collect

We collect personal information you choose to share with us, such as parent or caregiver names, contact details, enquiry messages, enrolment details, and information needed to communicate with families. Where information relates to a child, we treat it as sensitive and only collect what is reasonably needed for centre communication, enrolment, care, administration, or legal requirements.

Why we collect it

Under New Zealand privacy law, personal information should be collected for a clear purpose. We use information to respond to enquiries, manage enrolment conversations, communicate with families, support centre administration, meet regulatory obligations, and keep appropriate records for the operation of Little Kiwi Explorers.

Collecting information fairly

Where practical, we collect information directly from the parent, caregiver, or authorised person. If we need information from another source, we will do this only where appropriate and will take reasonable steps to make sure people understand what is being collected and why.

Using and sharing information

We use personal information only for the purposes it was collected, or for a directly related purpose a family would reasonably expect. We do not sell personal information. We may share information where needed with trusted service providers, professional advisers, regulators, or other parties where authorised by the family or required by New Zealand law.

Storage, security, and retention

We take reasonable steps to keep personal information safe from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure, or alteration. We keep information only for as long as it is needed for the reason it was collected, for lawful centre administration, or to meet record-keeping obligations, then dispose of it securely where appropriate.

Access and correction

You can ask to access personal information we hold about you or your child, and you can ask us to correct it if it is wrong or out of date. We may need to confirm identity and authority before releasing child or family information.

Privacy breaches

If a privacy breach happens, we will act promptly to contain it, assess the risk, and reduce harm. Where a breach is notifiable under the Privacy Act 2020, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and affected people as required.
